Graduate Students
The lab is not recruiting at this time. Please check back for opportunities in 2024.

Interested students can either join through the Masters or PhD program of the Marine Biology department at
Texas A&M University, Galveston. Financial support will be provided through a combination of TA- and RA-ships over 2-3 years (MS) up to 5 years (PhD).

If you are interested in joining the lab, please send Dr. Kitchen an email with the following:

  1. A brief description of your research interests
  2. A summary of your research experience
  3. A CV including professional references
  4. Graduate research fellowships (e.g., NSF GRFP, Ford Foundation, etc.) you may be eligible for. Students are expected to apply to fellowships or grant opportunities with guidance from me during their time in the lab.

Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students wishing to gain research experience should contact Dr. Kitchen by email, providing a short statement of research interests, available times and a CV/resume. Opportunities include animal husbandry, wet lab, and bioinformatics training. Students should be willing to commit 6 hrs a week in the lab.

Current summer opportunities include the 10-week NSF REU Oceanus and AMGEN Scholars programs. Please get in touch if you are interested in these programs.

Postdoctoral Researchers
There are no funded positions available at this time. The Kitchen lab welcomes inquiries to co-develop grant ideas for upcoming fellowship opportunities (TAMUG internal fellowship, NSF PRFB, LSRF, etc.).
